On Thursday, Emily, the boys and I were invited to our friend Jenny's house to play with Cole! I convinced the boys to put on a "performance" for me - singing and all... so I snapped some pics!

Jackson's 1st Haircut!

Yes, I know that my little man is 27 months old but his hair grew very slowly and then he developed this beloved curls.... so I didn't want to cut them off! Well, in Target the other day - Jackson was running around the aisles (as usual) and Ryan was chasing after him.. So he flew past this lady who looked at Ryan and said "she ran that way." Um... NO! So Ryan immediately came over and told me what the lady said and he followed it with "He's GETTING a haircut." So I reluctantly agreed... mostly cuz it was getting in his eyes and making him pretty mad. It was a sad day but I survived!

Thanks to Julie at Metropolis (who is amazing, btw) - it was a relatively easy experience. Knowing Jackson WILL NOT allow water anywhere near his head or face, Julie opted out of washing or wetting his hair. Maybe later when he doesn't scream his head off when water comes near him, we can then try washing his hair when it gets cut.

Here's how it went down!

We started w/ the booster seat - which Julie allowed Jackson to carry in and put in the chair (big boy!)

Then she started snipping.. it all just happened so fast and I'm not sure I was emotionally ready but away she went!

As soon as he started getting a little restless (maybe 2 minutes in) - I pulled out his new "good boy" toy - a new train (Gordon). I've been telling him for about a week and a half that if he was a good boy at his haircut, he would get Gordon! So for a long time now, we'd ask him - Jackson, what do you get if you're a good boy at your haircut? - and he'd yell 'GORDON!' - so he was excited!

For a little while, he forgot all about his hair getting cut!

Ethan's First Tub Bath!

Ethan's umbilical cord finally fell off on Saturday so we were finally able to give him his first tub bath! He sat very well in the water.. I wanted to help but Ryan just jumped in and did it while I was taking a shower! I got out of the shower in time to snap a few pictures! Poor baby's hair is coming out and his little scalp is peeling badly now. Jackson's hair fell out too - he was completely bald for about a month before he finally started growing it back slowly.
The best part of the bath was when Ryan handed him to me and Ethan peed all over me! That happens a lot to me. Par for the course.... :)

Ethan Chase!

Here are some recent pictures of our 3 week old sweetheart. He basically just eats and sleeps... and occasionally we get to see those great big eyes... He's just precious!

Ryan took this last week when Carol was here... I think it's awesome that Ethan will have this picture of himself w/ his 2 grandmas! Hopefully we can take lots of pictures like this!

Once again, we captured a picture of my mom! This was Saturday at her birthday party (she turned 40, haha!). Ethan w/ Mimi (who does NOT like her picture taken)

Ethan will fall asleep just about anywhere, but he really loves Daddy's chest. :)

Big Day Today!

Today is a very big day!

Today is my first day alone w/ my boys at home. The first week I had Ryan here, the second week was my grandma and last week was Ryan's mom Carol. So today is Ethan's 3 week birthday and we decided to go ahead and push forward w/ Babywise training. He is so wonderful and sweet but he really really is getting very comfortable with being rocked to sleep... but he is a little picky. He wants you to stand up and walk around rocking him - that's the only way he'll fall asleep unless he falls asleep eating. So at 3am, that's rough when he's wide eyed and you know you're looking at 20 minutes of walking around rocking him.... So Babywise begins early. We started Jackson at 8 weeks old and it was tougher cuz he was really used to us rocking him and making sure he was fast asleep before we laid him down - all while we tip-toed out praying we didn't wake him up. Ethan is going to learn early to fall asleep on his own. :)

Also, Ryan is a trooper and started South Beach Diet w/ me today. So for 2 full weeks, we are going to have no sugar, few carbs and no alcohol! I feel like I just got wine back but now I have to give it up again... well, at least it's just for 2 weeks. :)

Our week with Grandma Carol!

Ryan's mom drove the LOOOOONG drive here last weekend from Milwaukee to stay a whole week with us! It was so nice to have her here and have her help!!! Jackson loved visiting with her the most - as he now calls her "gumba" or "doopa" depending on who's ears are hearing it. We didn't do much around here this last week but that was ok! It was SO hot this week so we mostly stayed in and Jackson got lots of individual attention while I am starting to learn to care for Ethan while still giving Jackson what he needs... quite an adjustment. Ma - thanks so much for all of your help! I loved having you here and really appreciate all the work you did for us! Love you!
