Color Vibe 2013

In early August, The Color Vibe came to NWA and so did massive thunderstorms and rain.  I woke up at 6am to thunder, lightening and torrential rains. I told Ryan - let's skip this!  We have run a race in this kind of rain before, and I hated it.  But no.... not my husband.  He wanted to do it anyway.  When Ryan signs up to do something, by golly, he's doing it.  So.... off we went.  The fairgrounds were flooded... Like I walked thru water that was up to my knees.  It was insane.  The race - it was just as soaked.  It was like running thru a swamp!  Ryan GPS'd it and they advertized this as a 5K but it was only 2.5 miles - thank GOD!  I was miserable running in this environment.... I think it would've been fun if the weather had been better... But I'm just glad I had the coolest yet hottest running partner in the world!  :)

Painting with a Twist!

Back in mid-July, Painting with A Twist met 12 awesome girls and taught us to paint!  We had so much fun!!! Honestly, I am terribly uncreative.  I don't draw or paint or "create" things.  So this was absolutely a "lets just go with it and have fun" attitude that I had.  I didn't care about putting this painting up in my house or anything like that.  I was just out for a good time.  And a good time is exactly what we had!!  It was 2 hours and I wish it were 3!  It felt like it flew by! We had our own bar and our own private instructor...  It was AWESOME! 

Next time, we decided we're doing it as couples!!

 

Ethan's Party!

Ethan's party was supposed to be outside in our backyard- with all the backyard fun included.... but it decided to downpour the night before and the morning of... And it was unseasonably cool.... much too cool for a 900am water party... So we bailed on that idea and off to Fun City we went!  Turned out perfect!  I think everyone had fun, especially Ethan!!

 

 

 For Ethan's big gift from mommy/daddy, he got a very cool fish tank for his room, and he got to pick 3 small fish to put into it!  He was pretty excited!

July 26 :-)

 On Ethan's actual birthday - July 26, we invited some family to our house to have some pizza, cake and open Ethan's gifts.  Can't believe this sassy baby boy of mine is becoming such a big boy!  He was very excited about everyone singing Happy Birthday to him... not very interested in the gifts, but LOVING the cake.  In fact, he had cake 3 times on his birthday and once the day after.  Hey - when it's your birthday, you can do that!

 The next morning was the morning of Ethan's birthday party... (more on that tomorrow!). 

So he wanted his hair blue - so that's what he got!  He's such a fun loving boy... I absolutely adore him!!!

Ethan Starts Preschool!!!

Holy Smokes!  This has been a crazy month for our family!!!  My sweet boy Ethan started preschool yesterday!  He's been in Mother's Day Out since he was a baby, but this is his first time at a real preschool.  He'll be going 3 days a week and 2 of those days, he'll join Jackson and do the "after school" program which goes til 245p.  His teacher is Ms. Kim and she's new to the school, but with lots and lots of experience with this age... so I feel so good about her teaching my sweet little independent boy. 

On the first day, he walked right in... sat right down, totally ok.  2 of the boys in his class are twins that were also in his MDO class, so that helps too.  But he did amazing at school.  The teacher said he rocked it.  He said he had fun! 
Today, however, he has his first day of "after school" so I walked him in and made him carry his backback while I held his lunchbox.  Jackson carried his backpack, lunchbox and both napmats.  Well, we must've looked crazy to everyone walking by with all kids crying. Jackson was whining about it all being too heavy, Ethan was screaming about the backpack being too heavy and Christian was crying cuz it was naptime and he didn't want to be there in the first place.  FYI - the napmats just hang on Jackson's neck - they weigh almost nothing - and the backpack/lunchbox is what he carried into school by himself ALL year last year without any problems, so he just was being whiny.  Ethan's backpack had almost nothing in it, not even a drink, so they were NOT heavy whatsoever.  Christian - I finally had to pick him up and carry him so he'd stop screaming in the stroller. And I ended up having to carry Ethan's backpack so he'd stop crying. Oh we were a fun mess this morning. This is definitely one of those things I know will get better/easier as we do it more often.  It's another one of those adjustments that we're learning through....  We'll get there!!!

5 Months Old Today!

 

FIVE MONTHS!?  Roughly 150 days!!?  WHAT!?  It's really flying by this time.  I know I always say that, and I know I said that when Jackson and Ethan were babies too... but seriously, it's FLYING by!!  I just want to freeze time and make him stop growing up.  He is just absolute perfection.  God's perfect little creation.  He cracks me up with his big cackling laugh and giant smile.  His eyes are the most beautiful shade of blue... just gorgeous.  His hair is growing in very very light... still to be determined on the color!  He weighs 15 pounds, 10 oz!
Two days ago, we switched him from 5 to 4 feedings a day.... approx 7oz each time.  We have attempted cereal too - three times, and three times he said in not-so-many-words that he wasn't interested like I thought he was.  He gagged and made the most awful faces, so we'll try again next week.  He still hasn't mastered rolling from back-to-belly but he can roll from belly-to-back in about 1 second flat.  Unfortunately, he only wants to sleep on his belly and accidentally rolls onto his back all the time and sometimes gets very angry.  He usually ends up sleeping on his side.  We're going to keep practicing!  He eats his last bottle at 7p and is very very ready for bed right after.  Until he started rolling onto his back, he would sleep til about 630am every morning without a peep... but with all this rolling, he was been waking around 530a and just sits his crib and chats himself up until I go get him.   He usually gets up once in the middle of the night too, cuz he's rolled to his back and he's tired and wants to go back to sleep but just can't seem to wind down on his back.  So usually around the 2am hour I have to go in and roll him back over and he'll go right back to sleep. I keep telling myself this is just temporary til he rolls over himself. He loves to hold toys and everything goes directly to the mouth!  He's still teething a lot - a drooling mess.  He loves when I rub his bottom gums with my finger... It's like a little baby massage for him. We recently bought him a Jumperoo and he loves that!  He wants to stand all the time and he can stand strong with me just holding his little hands for a long, long time!  He is still not really sitting up yet... pretty wobbly but he's close.  I have a feeling that the 5th month is going to be a big one for milestones!  He absolutely LOVES Jackson, like a LOT.  He laughs constantly when he sees him...Even when Jackson isn't doing a thing.  Ethan, however, is a tiny bit rough - but not intentionally.  He just loves him so very, very much that he can't stand not to grab him and hug him... It's sweet, Ethan sweet.  :)  Another thing little man is doing is sucking his thumb!  I've never had a thumb sucker before, so this is crazy for me, but I'm not giving up on the paci yet... although it appears to be useless.  He definitely prefers that thumb. Oh well.  He is just ahhhhhhmazing!!!  :)
