I'm SO glad J still loves to drive his truck! The weather here has been unseasonably warm, so we've been outside as much as possible - sometimes we just "drive" over to the park. It's just nice that I don't have to bring a stroller.. Thanks for the ride J! :) Also, on this particular day, we met up w/ Ben and Noel and Ethan took his first trip down the slide by himself! He loved it and did it about 4 more times! :) Big Boy!

Cozy Coupe
Last week, we finally bought Ethan a Cozy Coupe. As 2 of my friends know, this boy will not get out of it or off of it when he is near it. We have been to 2 different birthday parties recently where Ethan saw one, grabbed it and claimed it the rest of the time. I don't know what it is about this toy but my little guy loves it. Worth every penny.

One Week Away!
In one week from today, MY New York Giants are going to be playing in the Super Bowl, once again, against the New England Patriots! I was so elated when they won this last playoff game that Jackson and Ethan had to sport our support too! I don't care much about football - EXCEPT for the Giants! I claimed this as my team in 2007 and in 2008, they beat the Patriots in the Super Bowl.. and I had Jackson 4 mos later! So I'm ready for Round 2 of a stomping on the Patriots next week! GOOOOOOO GIANTS!

A Bad Morning.
This morning hasn't been good. At all.
I thought that we were just going in for Ethan's 18 mo appt. Doc checked him out. Overall, he's doing great. He weighs 25.2 pounds (40.03 percentile) and his length is 33 inches (71.42 percentile).
Here lies the problem: Ethan has had eczema pretty much since he was about 6 wks old. It's gotten better, then worse, then better, then worse... Well, the last few weeks, it's gotten worse than I've ever seen. Jackson has it too and it changes too - so I wasn't alarmed about it but I did take pictures of it last week and decided to make an appointment w/ my dermatologist (for this coming up Monday) just because I was tired of the doctors saying it's eczema and suggesting all the things I'm already doing (aquafore, don't bathe everyday, no perfumed cleaners, etc etc). Eczema is not new to me - like I said, Jackson has had it on his legs since he was a baby too and I've never found anything to make it better so I made the dermatologist appt hoping for some answers. Well this morning, the pediatrician noted that Ethan's eczema was pretty bad. Um, yes! It is officially covering his whole body - his neck, belly, both legs and back - even some on his cheeks. He asked me all the same questions he always does and then suggested that maybe Ethan has a milk allergy or may be iron deficient. Never heard that one before.. so I inquired.... He suggested we do a blood test to find out. I was relieved to hear that maybe I could finally get some answers.

So we walked over to the lab. By this point, it had been a little over an hour at the doc - boys were getting ancy and Ethan had already drank an entire cup of milk, and then finished Jackson's and he was angry that there was no more. If you don't know Ethan, you don't know Ethan's temperament. It's a little extreme. I know every mom probably thinks her kid's temper is bad but again, you must not know Ethan. (I might add that he is equally lovable and laid back). So he had already been a little fussy but now, he is starting to get mad. He starts to scream... He wants to run all over the hospital and doesn't like that I'm not going to let him. Jackson thinks this is funny so he is encouraging Ethan to scream... ugh. We finally get our number called and I finally just give Jackson my iPhone to sit quietly and play a game while I try to deal w/ Ethan. Nurse says "oh, the doc put these orders in wrong so let me fix them really quick and then we'll come draw his blood." She says this as Ethan is still screaming and squirming and just mad. I am trying to stay calm and show Ethan things in the room to distract his fussiness (a little embarrassing how loud he's being) - and I'm just mad at myself for forgetting his paci at home. Finally, she and another (larger) nurse come over and say the doc ordered 3 tests and so they would need to get his blood from his arm. So the one nurse comes over and holds Ethan (very tightly) while he's SCREAMING now and I hold his other arm and try to comfort him. Ethan is absolutely freaking. They get the needle into his vein and he just goes insane. He is screaming and struggling so hard that between the nurse and I, he's still moving his arm around. They get one vial of blood and try to get the other but his vein has moved - or he moved so they keep trying but the vein and his arm is so puffed up by this point that I can see it start to bruise. Little blood bursts through the skin because he's struggling so hard that I'm worried he's going to pass out. At this point, I feel like I'm going to vomit. There is nothing like watching your baby screaming and yelling out MOMMA and struggling so hard that his beautiful little eyes were completely red and bloodshot - even 20 minutes after this ordeal. They decide to stop trying to get more blood and instead to try to see if they got enough. They say I have to wait 10 minutes. This is while Ethan is still freaking out - just absolutely inconsolable. I try walking around the hospital pointing at anything I see on the walls, pictures, people - anything that I think may calm him down. I try loving on him and kissing him and rocking him but he is just so mad that he's not having anything. They come back after the longest 10 minutes ever and say that they need to do this again. I start crying. I just couldn't even imagine putting my baby through that again- and I told her that I'm pretty sure that I'm not emotionally capable of going thru it again. I looked at Ethan's big bloodshot eyes and i said no. We will have to come back. I get them in the car and just start sobbing. I can't stop it. I know moms are supposed to be really strong and controlled but I just don't know how that was possible for me. Just an awful, awful experience.
Ethan's bruise popped up on his arm right away... (this pic is of his arm about 45 min after she stuck him). I put them both down for naps and tried to regain control of my emotions. I'm going to try to go back today and get that other test done. I've gotten the results from the first two and basically it makes no sense to me so I have a call into the doc to explain it to me. From what I can tell, it looks like Ethan has an iron deficiency. I don't exactly know how all that make sense but I'll blog about it when I do. I am praying that round 2 on the blood work isn't near as bad as round 1. At least I'm prepared for it a little more - and I'll have a paci with me. In the meantime, Ethan is pretty much going to get anything he wants from what he had to go through. Consider me wrapped around his tiny finger. My sweet baby...

Ethan's "Important" Phone Call
This little cutie pie stole my phone and refused to give it up. He had to call daddy and obviously it was important. He put the phone to his ear like this and says "Daddy? Daddy!?" And waits... and waits... and again "Daddy? Daddy!? DAAAADDDYYYY!!!!!????" He has some important business to discuss... like when are you coming home to read me some books!? :-)

Yoga Baby.
Ryan and I are two thirds of the way finished with our P90X. I honestly can't wait to be done! It's such a commitment to do it and only have 1 day off - especially when they are between 60 min and 75 min long! UGH! Anyway most days we do our workouts at 500am in our garage. We had a great setup in there. But yoga is usually something we can do with the boys upstairs... It's cozier anyway. Well, this particular yoga session, E was not having his daddy doing yoga at all - he wanted to be right in the middle of the whole process... and even ON Ryan for some of the time... Pretty funny. I had to grab a pic. Hey, it's more of a workout with 25 more pounds on your back, right?

Taking Advantage.
My new years resolution about stopping what I'm doing and just focusing on my boys has resonated with me. Last "semester" my week looked like this: Monday&Thursday - J and E go to Mother's Day Out. Tuesday&Wednesday, 930-1130a - boys to go to a childcare class while I go to an exercise class called Body and Soul (love this!). Sunday- we usually have the boys in church for 2 worship services because we work one and attend one. So basically, my boys and I had Fridays to be lazy and play all day - and Saturdays with Ryan ... which are always crammed full of "stuff" we have to do. Needless to say, I needed to make some changes... Just for ME mostly. I miss my kids. I miss our time... our lazy PJ days where we could play and do whatever we wanted.. those days where I could keep them on their schedule and make their meals and giggle and play... Life was just getting too busy. So a few months ago, I pulled Ethan out of Mother's Day Out on Mondays so he's just going on Thursdays. More recently, I pulled out of Body/Soul on Wednesdays so I just go on Tuesdays now. That leaves us more time together to play. I've also gotten J on the waiting list at a Christian Preschool where he'd go on T/W/Th mornings 830a-1130a, so I could have them both all day on Monday and Friday and every afternoon...
All this being said, it's really hard to imagine my boys not being home with me all the time doing our own thing... It's hard to picture Jackson in Kindergarten - knowing I can never get this time back where he was just all mine all day everyday. I need to do a better job taking advantage of the NOW.
A friend of mine said she found this on Pinterest the other day. I really like it.
"I hope my kids look back on today and see a mommy who had time to play. There will be years for cleaning and cooking. Children grow up when we are not looking."

Cole's Birthday at Jump Zone!
Jackson's good buddy Cole turned 4 years old last week and we got to celebrate with him on Saturday at Jump Zone! We all had such a great time! Jackson was fearless the whole time and played very fast and very hard...
The last time we were at Jump Zone, J was about 21 mos old and I was pregnant with Ethan and unable to help him with climbing up any of the bouncy houses, etc so it was quite frustrating for both of us, and we hadn't returned since... Needless to say, this time around, J didn't need my help at all and now Ethan is 18 mos old. Wow. Kinda sad how fast time goes by...

Better Late Than Never!
Every year since I can remember, we have always had a big family get-together dinner at my Aunt Kaye and Uncle Jimmy's house in Ponca. It's something that I always look forward to every Christmas because sometimes we only get together at Thanksgiving and Christmas all year long - so I miss my family! Anyway, this year everyone voted (not me!) to do it in January instead because the holidays were so crazy. Well, my cousin Bobby turned 30 in January, so we just combined the parties. I just LOVE getting Jackson together with his cousins to play - and he loves it too!
Such a wonderful family that we have.... and Happy Birthday Bobby!
Jackson and Mason had fun, as always!
Grandma Betty and 7 of her 8 great-grandchildren! :)

Getting Comfy
I had to stop and take a picture last week of these two laying like this for quite awhile watching TV. Nothing about this looks comfortable, but they didn't seem to mind.... Pretty cute, I think.

Kinect!
Dave and Carla bought Ryan a Kinect for Christmas. He hooked it up and Jackson and Ryan really had fun with it! I got some cute pics of them playing!

Coaster Spills.
Well, folks. The roller coaster made a short appearance in the house. I figured since it's bitter cold outside, we'd bring the fun inside like we did when Jackson was about 18 mos old. Obviously I didn't think about the fact that when J had it, he didn't have anyone he had to share it with. Needless to say, Ethan was hogging the coaster while J would shout at him "YOU HAVE TO SHARE!" - Ethan is still a bit too young to really grasp that concept (J was about 2.5 before he understood.) So after lots of screaming and falling and many many many head "boo-boos" (and the more recent fall -see below) - we had to put the coaster back in his rightful place, outside.

Let's Start Building!
My mom got the boys these blocks for Christmas... We play with them every day. Jackson said this tower was Rapunzel's tower. I think he's learned about that at school! :)
